The proposal to rename the airport will be reviewed at a meeting on September 17, considering the current Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority’s naming policy, which typically requires a two-year waiting period after a person’s passing before naming a property after them. The Tennessee Department of Tourist Development is in support of this initiative, with Commissioner Mark Ezell acknowledging Parton’s role in promoting Tennessee tourism.
