A campaigner involved in local election reform, whose tanning salon was visited by Nigel Farage, has been revealed to have expressed admiration for Adolf Hitler. Aaron Taylor, a prospective candidate and former branch treasurer, publicly praised the Nazi leader and denied the Holocaust. Despite being actively engaged in campaigning for Reform, Taylor’s online activity included sharing images of Hitler and making controversial statements about the Holocaust.
Recent investigations by the anti-racism group HOPE Not Hate uncovered Taylor’s troubling social media posts, which included expressing support for Hitler and questioning the reality of the Holocaust. Confronted at his salon in Jaywick, Taylor expressed remorse for his actions, claiming he was no longer affiliated with the party and apologizing for his past remarks.
Reform, led by Farage, has been gaining momentum in the polls ahead of the upcoming elections, positioning itself as a challenger to Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s popularity. The director of research at HNH condemned Taylor’s views, emphasizing the need for the party to distance itself from extremists like him.
Despite projecting a positive image as a dedicated member and volunteer for Reform, Taylor’s online presence revealed a stark contrast in beliefs. His past social media activity, which included glorifying Hitler and sharing white supremacist content, raised concerns about his association with the party.
Taylor, who previously held a leadership role within the party’s branch, has since disassociated himself from Reform following the discovery of his controversial posts. While acknowledging his past involvement with the party, Taylor expressed regret for his actions and claimed he had voluntarily ended his affiliation with Reform.
In response to inquiries about his support for Hitler and racist tweets, Taylor appeared to downplay his previous statements, citing lack of recollection or belief in the content. Reform clarified that Taylor was no longer a member of the party and had been rejected as a candidate after failing the vetting process.
