Family of Slain Woman Longs for Closure and Justice

The sibling of a woman who was fatally stabbed while beside her husband and infant has shared the profound sorrow of their family.

Living far away in India, Kirandeep Kaur’s relatives find solace in the gatherings held in west London as they await the repatriation of her body. The 24-year-old met her tragic end at her residence on Uxbridge Road in Hayes during the early hours of July 12.

Speaking through an interpreter from their residence in Punjab, Kirandeep’s elder brother Paljinder Singh expressed gratitude for the community coming together to honor her memory, aiding them in coping with their anguish. He lamented, “Had we foreseen the tragedy, we would have never let her depart.”

The family fervently desires for Kirandeep’s remains to be transported back to India to bid her a final farewell. Singh expressed his longing, stating, “Though I can never converse with her over the phone again, I yearn to behold her one last time.”

Having relocated to the UK two years prior to pursue studies at Buckinghamshire New University, the young woman had taken up employment at a local grocery store after her plans to settle in Canada were thwarted. Her kindred, based in Tarn Taran, Punjab, never envisioned that London would become her permanent abode.

Reflecting on her departure, Singh conveyed, “When she embarked on her journey just two years ago, we never envisaged this outcome…we never anticipated her absence.” Describing her as a compassionate soul, he shared, “She exuded kindness and was always willing to assist others. Her presence illuminated everything around her. Following this tragedy, life will never be the same. Her memory will forever linger in my heart.”

The untimely demise of the 24-year-old spurred a wave of processions and memorials across west London, where locals united to commemorate the graduate and stand in solidarity with her kin.

Despite the geographical distance, Singh acknowledged that the outpouring of support had provided their family with comfort. He remarked, “We are deeply appreciative of the memorial gatherings. The community rallied together to advocate for justice. Hopefully, no other family will endure a similar ordeal.”

Daniel Sean James, a resident of west London, faces charges of murder, attempted murder, and possession of a bladed weapon. Allegations suggest that he assaulted Kirandeep within her dwelling before leaping from a window and sustaining dual ankle fractures. Subsequently, he was apprehended by law enforcement in close proximity.

Appearing via video link from Wormwood Scrubs, James stood before Judge Nigel Lickley KC at the Old Bailey, where he was remanded in custody. His plea hearing is scheduled for October 1.
