An alert teenager was captured on surveillance footage taking action to prevent a car collision with two women inside. Euan Lonnen, 18, noticed a driverless vehicle slowly moving across a parking lot while he was working at a cafe.
Reacting swiftly, the teenager chased after the car and initially attempted to steer it, but when that failed, he entered the car and engaged the handbrake, bringing the car to a stop just before it could hit another parked car.
Describing the incident, Euan mentioned that a customer alerted him to the unmanned car in motion. Despite his initial attempt to steer the car, he had to resort to manually applying the handbrake due to the car being turned off and the steering wheel locked.
Fortunately, the passengers were unharmed, and both cars avoided any damage. The incident took place while Euan was on duty as a supervisor at the Highland Farm Cafe in Dingwall, Scotland.
Euan’s quick thinking and heroic actions earned praise from astonished customers and colleagues. The cafe owners, Kenneth and Lesley, later shared the CCTV footage on social media, garnering significant attention and positive feedback.
Kenneth commended Euan’s response to the situation, emphasizing his dedication to customer care. He highlighted that Euan’s intervention prevented a potentially dangerous situation as the passengers had not even fastened their seat belts.
