An infuriated farmer retaliated against numerous tourists by spraying their vehicles with manure after they illegally parked in a field at a picturesque location in the UK.
Video footage captured the moment when around 20 cars, parked on private property near Rydal Water in Cumbria’s Lake District, were doused in slurry on May 26. This field is situated close to Rydal Mount, where the renowned poet William Wordsworth resided from 1813 until 1850.
A sign prominently displayed at the beginning of the video warns, “Polite Notice – DO NOT PARK IN THE FIELD,” while another sign above indicates the presence of sheep in the area. Luxury cars like Mercedes, Jaguars, and BMWs were among those affected in what has been termed as “countryside karma.”
The incident highlighted the ongoing challenge of unauthorized parking at this scenic spot, particularly during peak holiday seasons. This event unfolded as a farmer, John Atkinson from Coniston, recounted a past altercation where he was stabbed while addressing a motorist causing an obstruction.
Dylan Wakley, 25, captured the incident on video while passing through the area with his partner. The farmer, from Devon, expressed little sympathy for the car owners, emphasizing their disregard for posted signs and the inconvenience caused.
Support for the farmer emerged online, with individuals acknowledging the consequences of ignoring farmers’ warnings and expressing frustration over disrespectful behavior. Cumbria Police urged visitors to adhere to parking regulations and emphasized the importance of not obstructing roadways, especially for emergency services.
Authorities are investigating the incident to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the unauthorized parking on the farmer’s land. The farmer responsible for the slurry spraying has been contacted for a statement.
