A man tragically lost his life in a devastating road accident on the A75, located west of Dumfries in Scotland. The victim, identified as 54-year-old Phillip Thompson, was involved in a fatal crash while driving a BMW X5 on January 16. Emergency services responded to the incident at 12.50pm that day.
Despite efforts by the Police and Scottish Ambulance Service to save him, Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. The A75 road, connecting Stranraer and Cairnryan ferry ports with A74 at Gretna, was closed for around ten hours for investigations. Police Scotland has initiated inquiries into the crash and is seeking information from the public.
Authorities are urging any witnesses, especially motorists in the vicinity at the time of the incident, to come forward. The police have requested individuals present in the area to review their dashcam footage for any relevant details. Sergeant Colin Ramage expressed condolences to Thompson’s family and friends, emphasizing the ongoing investigation.
