Police are conducting a homicide investigation following a fatal stabbing in Hackney earlier today. The incident occurred around 1:42 pm on Downs Park Road near Mossbourne Community Academy and Hackney Downs Park.
Law enforcement officials have stated that they believe the stabbing is an isolated event and does not involve any students from the nearby school. The victim, a man in his late 20s, passed away at the scene, with his family notified and receiving support from specialized officers.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the Metropolitan Police continue their inquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, mentioned that the investigation is in its early stages, with efforts underway to identify the individuals responsible. Detective Chief Superintendent Brittany Clarke, responsible for policing in the area, expressed concern over the incident happening in broad daylight near a school. However, she reassured the community that there is no indication of school involvement, emphasizing that it is being treated as an isolated occurrence.
