Scottish humorist and former participant in Celebrity Big Brother, Hardeep Singh Kohli, is set to stand trial for charges related to sexual offenses.
The 57-year-old is accused of assaulting three women from April 2007 to December 2016. Allegations suggest that Kohli indecently touched the first victim at BBC Studios in Glasgow’s Pacific Quay by grabbing her buttocks, holding her closely, and embracing her.
Another accusation involving the same woman claims that Kohli, residing in Kelvinside, made a sexual remark towards her at a bar and restaurant in Glasgow. The third charge states that Kohli indecently touched the woman at Raddison Blu Hotel in Glasgow by touching her back and hair.
Kohli faces a separate charge of indecently assaulting a second woman at Cross Keys Hotel, Canonbie, Dumfries and Galloway. It is alleged that he grabbed her arm, leaned towards her, and tried to kiss her face. A defense of consent has been put forward for this charge.
Additionally, Kohli is accused of behaving disorderly and breaching the peace at the same place by exposing and performing a sexual act on himself.
The final charge accuses Kohli of sexually assaulting a third woman at Yes Bar in Glasgow city center. It is claimed that he touched her body, hugged her, kissed her on the mouth, and attempted to insert his tongue into her mouth.
Kohli appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently and refuted all six charges. His defense counsel, Urfan Dar, stated readiness for trial, estimating it to last four to five days.
Advocate Sarah Livingstone will represent Kohli at trial, as confirmed by Mr. Dar. The prosecutor, Sean Docherty, mentioned citing seven civilian witnesses and one police witness.
Docherty stated, “The Crown is prepared for trial, estimated to be four days. Disclosure has been completed.”
A trial lasting five days has been scheduled for November by Sheriff John McCormick, who extended Kohli’s bail in the meantime.
Kohli has previously been seen on television programs such as The One Show, Celebrity MasterChef, and Newsnight Review, and has hosted shows on BBC Radio 4.
