Television personality Nick Knowles, widely recognized for his hosting roles on various shows like the National Lottery gameshow Break the Safe and Home Is Where the Art Is, has made an announcement that he will be taking a break from his broadcasting duties due to a family emergency.

The popular DIY SOS presenter, who garnered praise for his resilient performance on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2024, has decided to step away from work as his wife, Katie Dadzie, recently underwent urgent surgery.

Katie, a 36-year-old lingerie businesswoman, was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a cervical rupture following a hysterectomy. This incident occurred just weeks after her marriage to Nick at Braxted Park Estate, Essex, in June 2025.

Following the initial surgery, Katie has been informed that she needs another significant operation, leading Nick to prioritize staying at home to care for her during this challenging time.

In a statement to the Daily Mail by Richard Eden, Nick expressed the need to take some time off, stating, “I’ve been looking after my wife a lot because she has been through it. She’s had a lot of tough times. She’s got another operation coming up.”

Katie had undergone a hysterectomy last year due to long-standing health issues related to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, and adenomyosis. Unfortunately, complications arose when the stitches in her cervix ruptured 12 weeks into her recovery, causing severe abdominal pains.

Describing the harrowing experience, Katie shared details of her hospitalization, highlighting the excruciating pain she endured and the subsequent emergency treatment she received.

Despite the immediate crisis being resolved, Katie is still facing additional surgeries, and Nick has affirmed his commitment to support her throughout her recovery process, emphasizing his role in caring for her during this challenging period.
