Former child star Foster Sylvers has passed away at the age of 64. He gained fame during the 1970s as a member of the family band The Sylvers.

His brother, Leon Sylvers III, confirmed Foster’s death in a hospice after battling stage four pancreatic cancer. Following his passing, Foster’s daughter Erin posted a picture of him on Facebook with the caption, “Rest well, Daddy. I love you so much.”

Sylvers played bass for the family band, known for hits like Boogie Fever, Fool’s Paradise, and Hot Line. Tragically, this is the second time a sibling has succumbed to cancer, with his brother Edmund dying from lung cancer in 2004. Another brother, Christopher, who was not part of the group, passed away in 1985 from hepatitis at the age of 18.

The surviving Sylvers siblings include Olympia, Leon, Charmaine, and James, who originally formed the quartet called Little Angels, along with Joseph, Ricky, Angie, and Pat. As a band, they released 10 albums throughout the 1970s.

Foster’s debut album, a collaboration with his brother Leon, was released in 1973 when he was just 10 years old. Due to his popularity, Foster made appearances on various American TV shows such as American Bandstand and Soul Train.

In the 1980s, the band altered its musical direction to align with the changing trends of the era. Foster then took on lead vocal duties for their 1981 hit Come Back Lover, Come Back. The group disbanded officially four years later, leading Foster to form his own band, Hy-Tech, in 1989.
