Ian Watkins was reportedly seen leaving his cell with blood on his T-shirt after being stabbed by a fellow inmate at HMP Wakefield. The former Lostprophets frontman, serving time for child sexual offences, was attacked by Rico Gedel, who allegedly stabbed him multiple times with a homemade knife. Watkins was later found bleeding and in need of medical attention.

Gedel and another inmate, Samuel Dodsworth, are facing charges of murder and possession of a makeshift knife in prison. It is believed that the attack was premeditated, with Dodsworth allegedly being aware of Gedel’s intentions. Watkins had received threatening notes prior to the incident, suggesting a possible motive for the attack.

CCTV footage captured Gedel entering Watkins’ cell and passing an item to Dodsworth shortly before the assault took place. Watkins identified Gedel as his attacker before losing consciousness and ultimately succumbing to his injuries. Gedel reportedly showed no resistance when apprehended by prison officers and made provocative remarks as he was being escorted back to his cell.

The trial is ongoing as authorities gather more evidence and testimonies related to the tragic incident at the high-security prison.
