Former Spandau Ballet lead singer Ross Davidson, also known by his stage name Ross Wild, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison. The 38-year-old was found guilty in two trials for multiple charges including rape, attempted rape, sexual assaults, and voyeurism against six women between August 2013 and December 2019.

During sentencing at Wood Green Crown Court, Judge John Dodd KC criticized Davidson’s behavior, stating that despite his charismatic public persona as a stage performer, he had treated women in a disgraceful manner over a period of six years. The judge highlighted Davidson’s lack of respect towards the victims, who gave compelling testimonies of betrayal and abuse of trust.

Evidence presented in court included videos recovered from Davidson’s phone showing disturbing incidents such as the filming of a rape and sexual assaults on sleeping women. Prosecutor Richard Hearnden emphasized the vulnerability of the victims during these acts and the lasting trauma they experienced upon learning about the violations.

Davidson’s crimes came to light after his encounters with women he met on the Tinder dating app led to disturbing revelations. Despite claiming that all sexual interactions were consensual, his victims painted a starkly different picture in court. Statements from the women detailed the profound impact of the assaults on their lives, with accounts of fear, anxiety, and emotional distress.

The court proceedings shed light on Davidson’s darker side, revealing a pattern of predatory behavior masked by his public image as a charming and charismatic artist. The prosecution argued that Davidson’s sense of entitlement to sexual gratification led him to commit acts of violence and exploitation against vulnerable women.

While Davidson’s defense counsel mentioned his struggles with undiagnosed ADHD and substance abuse, they also acknowledged his remorse and efforts towards rehabilitation in prison. The sentencing marked the end of a legal battle that saw Davidson being held accountable for his predatory actions over several years.

Following the verdict, senior crown prosecutor Shikha Verma commended the victims for their bravery in seeking justice and emphasized that Davidson had been rightfully brought to justice for his heinous crimes.
