Former The Only Way Is Essex alum, Jordan Wright, was discovered deceased in a drainage canal in Thailand, as disclosed during an inquest.
The 33-year-old, hailing from Stanford-le-Hope in Essex, was found on March 14 this year in Phuket province, with his passing later confirmed, according to statements made during a hearing in Chelmsford on Tuesday. His demise occurred shortly after he had relocated to the popular tourist destination for a fresh beginning.
During the inquest, Court co-ordinator Matthew Austin revealed that Wright was “found in a drainage canal” off Bang Thao 2 Alley, Choeng Thale sub-district, Thalang district, Phuket province.
Following the discovery, the reality TV personality’s remains were transported back to Essex, where a post-mortem examination took place at Basildon Hospital. The exact cause of death is pending, awaiting toxicology results from Thailand.
Before his untimely passing, Jordan had showcased glimpses of his new life overseas to his social media followers. He shared content depicting his experiences in Phuket, including images of him enjoying an infinity pool, engaging in scuba diving, and smiling while riding a motorbike, with the caption ‘Home.’
Just weeks after his relocation, tragedy struck. In response, a Towie spokesperson expressed condolences on behalf of the show, stating, “Everyone at Towie extends their deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Jordan Wright during this sorrowful period.”
Tributes poured in on Wright’s final Instagram post, with fellow Towie star Chloe Brockett leaving a message, “Rest in peace Jordan.” Liam “Gatsby” Blackwell, another reality TV figure, also shared his sentiments, saying, “Miss you already, brother. Glad I got to see you in Thailand a couple of months ago. Big love to all your Family.”
A representative from the UK Foreign Office mentioned, “We are providing support to the family of a British man who passed away in Thailand and are in communication with local authorities.”
