Junade Khan, an actor who previously worked as a bus driver for eight years before landing a role on Coronation Street, had faced challenges in kickstarting his acting career despite some smaller roles, including a part in Game of Thrones. At 44, he had started to doubt the feasibility of pursuing acting full-time.
Fortunately, Junade is now a regular on Corrie, portraying the character of Idris Nazir, a successful businessman who becomes romantically involved with Leanne Battersby. Despite moments of doubt and considering quitting the industry, he credits his agent’s encouragement for keeping him going.
Transitioning from a bus driver to a successful actor, Junade experienced a period where his children, Alara-Star and Pacino, were gaining recognition in the acting world. Alara-Star, at just two years old, appeared in a TV advert for Orange, while Pacino secured roles in a Marvel film and the TV series Waffle the Wonder Dog.
His character Idris, a cousin of lawyer Alya Nazir, is set to bring drama to the cobbles with a darker side emerging as he deals with a landlord situation involving Abi Webster’s son. Junade’s journey in acting began at 18 after a football injury, leading him to study at East 15 acting school.
Despite setbacks, including missing out on a previous role on Coronation Street, Junade persevered and found success in various acting projects, including Hollyoaks, Game of Thrones, and Emmerdale. He appreciates his current role on Corrie, highlighting the supportive environment and the fulfillment of realizing his dreams in the industry.
