The father and his two sons, known as the Redmonds from Holm Lane in Prenton, Wirral, were present at a wake held at the Prenton Golf Club following a funeral on October 17, 2024. Although their relationship to the deceased remains unclear, witnesses noted that the family members seemed out of place and were not known to others at the event.

During the wake, an argument escalated, leading to a physical confrontation involving the Redmond family. The situation deteriorated rapidly, with pint glasses being thrown, individuals being physically attacked, and chaos ensuing. The violence culminated in the father and sons being escorted out of the premises by staff, but not before causing significant harm to several attendees.

The brawl was sparked by an incident where a man prevented one of the Redmond family members from leaving, leading to a series of aggressive actions and physical altercations.
