Gary Glitter, whose real name is Paul Gadd, faces charges for four sexual offences involving a girl dating back to 1978, as confirmed by the Crown Prosecution Service. The allegations include one count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under 13 and three counts of indecent assault on a girl under 14. The 82-year-old is scheduled to appear before Westminster Magistrates’ Court on August 5.
According to a statement from the Metropolitan Police, the charges pertain to a single victim and are said to have occurred between 1978 and 1981 at a residential location in Kensington. The case was first reported to the Met on January 9, 2025, leading to an immediate investigation. Gadd was initially interviewed on July 22, 2025, in connection with the case.
Specialist officers are currently providing support to the victim, who has been informed of the latest developments in the case.
