Several dogs attacked a 7-year-old girl, causing severe injuries to her scalp and legs, according to authorities. The incident took place on June 27 at Barham Avenue and Bosque Avenue near Corning, as reported by the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office. The victim, known as Patricia, was rushed to the hospital, and her condition was undisclosed at the time.
Following the attack, a fundraising campaign was initiated by Patricia’s grandmother, Monica Edmiston, to assist in the girl’s recovery. Edmiston described the ordeal, mentioning that the dogs inflicted multiple wounds on Patricia but praised her strength and resilience.
Patricia’s family stood by her side during her hospital stay, even sleeping in their car in Sacramento to be close to her. An update later confirmed that Patricia was discharged on June 30, with a challenging recovery journey ahead of her.
The Tehama County Sheriff’s Office seized six dogs believed to be involved in the attack for further investigation. While the case is ongoing, no arrests or citations have been issued yet. The fundraiser has exceeded its initial goal, raising over $4,100 to support Patricia’s family during this difficult time.
For those willing to contribute, donations can be made to the GoFundMe page set up for Patricia. The authorities have assured that more information will be provided as the investigation progresses.
