Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay recently shared insights into his Sunday morning fitness routine. The 59-year-old, known for his transformation from an 18-stone ‘fat chef’ to an amateur endurance athlete, regularly participates in marathons and Ironman competitions.
Ramsay took to Instagram, where he has a massive following of 19.5 million, to post a video displaying his swimming gear next to a pool, including goggles, swim cap, water bottle, towel, snacks, and energy gels.
In his post, Ramsay wrote, “Sunday morning swim, followed by a 60min strength workout LFG…….”
A subsequent post detailed his impressive swim stats: he completed a 2,000m swim in 34 minutes and 49 seconds, at a pace of 1:46. His followers commended his dedication, with one remarking, “Very good going! Wow.”
Another follower mentioned, “Great meeting you on the way up!” while a third added, “Idk why but Gordon saying ‘LFG’ is sending me I respect the grind,” as reported by Wales Online.
Last year at the AEH IRONMAN 70.3 Costa Navarino event in Greece, Gordon finished behind both his wife, Tana, and daughter, Tilly. Tilly secured fourth place in her age category with a time of 6:00.40, beating her father by 43 minutes.
Gordon crossed the finish line at 6:44.38, and Tana, who surpassed her husband during the run, completed the race in 6:10.07. Chef Paul Ainsworth from Cornwall achieved a personal best of 5:29.17 in the same competition.
Gordon has previously discussed his dietary habits and weight management within the culinary industry. He explained his routine of consuming a protein shake in the morning, scrambled eggs for lunch, and poached chicken or fish for dinner, emphasizing the importance of balance.
He highlighted the evolving role of chefs today, emphasizing the need for fitness and setting a positive example for their teams. Gordon also shared his disciplined approach to eating, limiting himself to two mouthfuls of a tempting dish to maintain control and avoid overindulging.
