Due to a significant construction project in downtown Guelph affecting foot traffic, Brothers Brewing had to find an alternative to their closed summer patio. In response, the brewery partnered with the Guelph Lawn Bowling Club to open a beer garden, which has been successful for both establishments.

Colton Proveau, co-owner of Brothers Brewing, mentioned that the collaboration was essential as the brewery experienced a 50% decline in sales. Despite the challenges, Proveau expressed gratitude for the opportunity the beer garden presented. Blake Skinner, the club’s president, highlighted the joy and new interest the beer garden brought to the lawn bowling experience, attracting newcomers and creating a vibrant atmosphere.

The initiative has garnered positive feedback from patrons like Mathew and Jenna Holdom, who embraced lawn bowling at the beer garden and plan to continue supporting the venue throughout the downtown construction period. Long-time club member Emily Gibson praised the addition of the beer garden, noting the increased turnout and diverse age groups participating in lawn bowling.
