A social media influencer and model has passed away from a rare type of cancer shortly after her inaugural appearance on the runway. Sydney Towle, aged 26, succumbed to stage four cholangiocarcinoma, a less common cancer that impacts the bile ducts, three years after being diagnosed in 2022 at the age of 23.
Sydney’s family confirmed her death on social media, expressing their love and pride for her enduring fight against the illness. Known for her openness about her cancer journey, Sydney shared her experiences with her 1.1 million followers, detailing her treatments, city strolls, and pursuit of experimental therapies like tumour-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) treatment.
Despite her health challenges, Sydney made a remarkable appearance at Miami Swim Week, showcasing adaptive designs tailored for post-cancer bodies and scars. Her runway debut was a significant and empowering moment in her life, as she navigated her medical condition with grace and determination.
Recently, Sydney’s brother revealed that she had been transferred to hospice care, surrounded by loved ones. Her courageous battle against the disease and her resilience in the face of adversity have left a lasting impact on those who knew her.
