A London-bound British Airways flight originating from Barbados had to be canceled due to allegations that crew members were intoxicated at a hotel shortly before the scheduled departure time. The flight, BA254, was supposed to depart from Bridgetown at 4.25 pm local time on Sunday and reach London Heathrow at 6.15 am on Monday, affecting around 336 passengers.
Reports from the Press Association indicate that several British Airways crew members have been suspended pending an investigation. According to The Sun, the crew members were reportedly engaged in a drinking session involving vodka and beer at a hotel before the flight. The newspaper mentioned that one female crew member vomited, and a male colleague collapsed during the incident.
The occurrence is believed to have transpired at a beachfront hotel known for hosting honeymooners, although the specific hotel has not been disclosed. Witnesses allegedly filmed the crew members, with one individual purportedly stating, “We’re British Airways crew, what of it?”
In response to the incident, a spokesperson for British Airways stated, “We demand the utmost professionalism from our crew, and we are actively looking into this situation.”
