“Iranian Forces Replenish Missile Arsenal During Ceasefire”

Published on

Recent satellite imagery has revealed that Iranian forces are taking advantage of the current ceasefire to replenish their missile arsenal, concealed in underground storage sites that were targeted by Israeli airstrikes. The images show heavy machinery excavating buried missile launchers in response to the escalating tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

Following the US naval blockade imposed on the strategic waterway, Iran is reportedly using the temporary truce signed on April 8 to shift missile assets from the east to the west. Notably, one of the hidden sites being unearthed is located in Khomein, the birthplace of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomenei, the founder of the Islamic Republic.

In response to these developments, the US has bolstered its presence in the Gulf region, both to enforce the blockade and to prepare for potential resumption of hostilities. The US military has emphasized its disruption of maritime trade with Iran, as part of the blockade that is now in its second day.

Against the backdrop of escalating tensions, Lebanon and Israel have engaged in their first diplomatic talks in over three decades, amidst a worsening humanitarian crisis stemming from the ongoing Hezbollah-Israel missile conflict. Recent reports indicate that Lebanese Hezbollah launched a significant missile and rocket attack on northern Israel.

The talks between Lebanon and Israel in Washington mark a significant diplomatic milestone, being the first of their kind since 1993. The conflict has taken a toll on both sides, with over 2,000 casualties reported since Israeli military operations resumed in Lebanon in early March.

During the recent Washington meetings, Hezbollah reportedly carried out multiple attacks on Israeli targets in Lebanon, escalating tensions further. Israeli missions in Lebanon aim to neutralize Hezbollah, a long-standing adversary since the Gaza conflict began.

US CENTCOM, responsible for security in the Middle East and Central/South Asia, has deployed thousands of troops amid the escalating situation. The blockade has disrupted Iran’s sea trade significantly, with US forces intercepting merchant ships and enforcing compliance with the embargo.
