The Israeli forces have announced the recovery of the remains of the final hostage in Gaza. Ran Gvili’s remains have been found in the Yellow Line area in northern Gaza Strip. Gvili, a former police tactical fighter in southern Israel, was captured by Hamas during the October 7 attacks while defending Kibbutz Alumim.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the retrieval of Gvili’s remains, stating that he fell in battle on October 7, 2023, and his body was taken to Gaza. The IDF expressed condolences to Gvili’s family and emphasized their commitment to supporting returned hostages and enhancing Israel’s security.

Hamas issued a statement following the discovery of Gvili’s body, highlighting their compliance with the Gaza ceasefire terms. The ceasefire, effective from October 10, aims to ensure peace and facilitate prisoner exchanges, as per Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem.

According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, over 71,650 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since October 7, 2023. Additionally, more than 480 Palestinians have lost their lives post-ceasefire. On the same day, 1,100 individuals were killed in Israel, with 251 taken as hostages to Gaza. Before Gvili’s recovery, 20 hostages and 27 deceased individuals had been repatriated to Israel since the ceasefire agreement, with Israel reciprocating by returning Palestinian bodies to Gaza.

Recent incidents in Gaza include the fatal shooting of a man in Tuffah neighborhood and another in Bureij refugee camp. These events occurred in areas where the IDF was conducting search operations related to Gvili. The circumstances surrounding the second man’s death remain unclear.
