King Charles III and Queen Camilla of Britain are currently on a four-day official visit to the United States, marking the first such trip by a British monarch since 2007. Their visit aligns with the celebration of America’s 250th anniversary of independence. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hosted the royal couple at a formal state reception on the South Lawn, followed by an elegant state dinner featuring Dover sole and spring-herbed ravioli.

During a historic moment, King Charles addressed a joint session of Congress, emphasizing the crucial alliance between the UK and the US and advocating for unity and the reaffirmation of shared democratic values.

Apart from his serious remarks in the congressional speech, observers also noted King Charles’ sense of humor. A video clip of the King making a light-hearted joke about British time perception circulated online, drawing laughter from the audience.

The video quickly went viral, amassing over 466,000 views, with viewers praising King Charles’ comedic timing. His speech at Congress was characterized by witty remarks and subtle British humor, earning applause and laughter from both sides of the political spectrum.

In addition to the joke in the video, King Charles drew parallels between historical figures, including President George Washington and his ancestor King George III. He engaged in playful banter with Speaker Mike Johnson and highlighted the linguistic differences between the UK and the US, quoting Oscar Wilde.

Later at the White House state dinner, King Charles continued his charm offensive, exchanging playful jabs with President Trump. Their interactions included references to historical events and light-hearted remarks about language differences.

On Wednesday, the royal couple will visit New York City, including a solemn visit to the 9/11 Memorial at One World Trade Center. They will engage with first responders and families of 9/11 victims before attending separate events in the city. King Charles will visit Harlem Grown, a nonprofit organization promoting urban farming, while Queen Camilla will attend a literary event at the New York Public Library. The day will culminate in a UK-US cultural reception in the evening.

Throughout their visit, King Charles and Queen Camilla have showcased a blend of diplomacy, humor, and cultural engagement, strengthening the ties between the UK and the US.
