Morrisons customers and employees were evacuated after a man wielding a knife caused chaos in the supermarket. Milad Panjshiri, 22, entered the Bradford store in West Yorkshire armed with a six-inch blade and proceeded to vandalize the aisles by throwing wine bottles on the ground, resulting in a scene of shattered glass and fleeing shoppers.

Panjshiri even menaced a female staff member with the knife, prompting the evacuation of dozens of shoppers, including elderly individuals, for their safety. The violent incident occurred on December 5 last year, during which Panjshiri stabbed cans, toppled shelves of wine bottles, and engaged in threatening behavior.

Following the disturbance, which left both staff and customers distressed, police were notified and promptly arrested Panjshiri, recovering the weapon in the process. Despite being sentenced to 18 months in prison, Panjshiri, a resident of Deneside Terrace, Bradford, West Yorks, declined to attend his sentencing hearing, citing mental health issues as a contributing factor to his actions.

During the court proceedings, it was revealed that Panjshiri’s behavior was considered a significant concern, with the judge expressing unease over the public display of violence and the potential implications of such actions on the community. The judge mentioned the heightened awareness resulting from the incident and the challenges related to Panjshiri’s behavior while in custody, indicating that only a portion of his sentence may be served due to various factors, including immigration status.
