“Man Banned for Secretly Filming Woman in Pool Shower”

Published on

A man, Craig Ellingford, has been banned from visiting leisure facilities after being caught secretly filming a woman changing in a shower cubicle at a popular swimming pool in Dundee. Ellingford, 44, was reported to have waited until the woman was alone, then sneaked into the adjacent cubicle with his mobile phone pointed at her. The woman noticed the phone aimed at her while she was partially undressed, prompting her to confront Ellingford before reporting the incident to staff and authorities.

Ellingford pleaded guilty to voyeurism charges for using his mobile phone to spy on the woman while she was in the shower cubicle. The court heard that he had been observed on CCTV monitoring the woman’s movements in the locker room before entering the cubicle next to hers while she was changing.

The victim, visibly shaken and distressed, had to pause her statement multiple times due to emotional distress. Ellingford’s defense attorney expressed his client’s remorse and embarrassment, acknowledging the impact of his actions on both himself and his family.

In response, Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon issued a conduct order against Ellingford, prohibiting him from leisure facilities, placing him under supervision and on the sex offenders register for nine months, and mandating 165 hours of unpaid work. The sheriff emphasized the seriousness of the offense, noting Ellingford’s deliberate actions in following the woman into the shower cubicle, causing significant distress and invasion of privacy.
