Police have uncovered distressing conditions inside a residence where a man with Down’s Syndrome was found deceased, leading to a woman being accused of his murder. The incident took place on August 10, 2023, in Ayr, Queensland, when emergency services responded to a call about an unresponsive individual named Isaac, also known as ‘Ike’. Unfortunately, Isaac was pronounced dead at the scene, prompting a suspicious death investigation by authorities.

The investigation into the death of Isaac, a 56-year-old man who was non-verbal and had Down’s Syndrome, has been intricate. Detectives delved into his health, care, and treatment history in great detail. Subsequent examinations, including a thorough post-mortem, revealed that Isaac was severely malnourished, weighing only 29kg at the time of his passing.

After a comprehensive three-year inquiry, a 70-year-old woman was arrested and charged with murder on Tuesday. Bodycam footage captured the chaotic state of the property where the incident occurred, with clutter strewn everywhere and furniture obscured by piles of items. The woman is set to face charges in court as per the police statement issued by the Crime Command Homicide Investigation Unit and Ayr Criminal Investigation Branch.

The statement highlighted that the investigation had led to the arrest of the Forest Lake woman for the murder of the 56-year-old man. The woman is scheduled to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
