A man carrying knives caused a nursery in Coventry to go into lockdown. The incident occurred at the Park Edge Family Hub on Roseberry Avenue, where Bell Green Nursery is located, yesterday at 10:40 am. Police quickly responded and arrested the man, who was found to have serious injuries and was taken to University Hospital Coventry (UHCW) for treatment. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported, and the knives were confiscated.
The individual was later released from UHCW and detained for questioning by West Midlands Police. According to the police, they received reports of a man with knives on Roseberry Avenue and successfully apprehended him on suspicion of carrying a bladed item without causing harm or injury.
Emergency medical services attended the scene and provided treatment to the injured man before transferring him to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire. Bell Green Nursery confirmed that the man did not enter their premises or come into contact with any children, staff, or families. They followed safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of everyone involved, and informed parents promptly.
The nursery expressed gratitude for the professionalism and quick response of their team, as well as for the cooperation of parents during the incident.
