The city of Markham is gearing up for the Ontario Honda Dealers Indy this weekend, which will feature the NTT IndyCar Series and other motorsports events. This marks the first time the race will be held outside Toronto, with a new track layout spanning 3.52 kilometers and 12 turns.

To access the track, attendees are encouraged to utilize GO Transit, York Region Transit, or Highway 407 for driving, with parking available west of the event grounds. Metrolinx is enhancing Stouffville Line services for transportation to and from the track.

Road closures due to track construction in Markham have impacted residents, with various roads including Enterprise Boulevard, Kennedy Road, YMCA Boulevard, University Boulevard, and South Unionville Boulevard closed until Monday morning. Some roads will remain affected until the track teardown is completed on August 27.

The main event on Sunday will feature IndyCar racing, with top contender Alex Palou leading in points and expected to perform well. Other drivers to watch include Pato O’Ward, Kyle Kirkwood, David Malukas, Christian Lundgaard, and Rinus Veekay. Local talent like Anthony Martella and Chase Pelletier will also be competing in support series races.

Drivers have noted the differences in the Markham track compared to Toronto, with newly paved roads offering a smoother surface. Ticket information for the event is available on the website, with Friday’s practice and qualifying sessions being free to attend on Fan Friday.
