Warnings have been issued to the public to steer clear of St Luke’s Church, with road closures implemented on Upper Villiers Street between Marston Road and Sunbeam Street.

Former Labour councillor, Paul Birch, advised residents to remain indoors as firefighters combat the blaze, cautioning about a potential “major toxic incident” unfolding. The fire reportedly began around 7:20 am, with eight crews from different areas responding to the scene promptly.

The West Midlands Fire Service has issued a statement confirming their swift response to the incident on Sunbeam Street near Upper Villiers Street in Blakenhall, Wolverhampton. Eight fire engines, a 4×4 brigade response vehicle, and a hydraulic aerial platform are currently on site, with firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus tackling the blaze using hose reel jets.
