Meghan Markle has unveiled two new items in her As Ever Mother’s Day collection, drawing inspiration from her young children. The Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle brand has introduced two candles paying tribute to Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, incorporating elements of their royal status.
These limited edition products will be available for purchase starting Wednesday, featuring Signature Candle No. 506, commemorating Prince Archie of Sussex’s birth on May 6, and Signature Candle No. 604, a tribute to Princess Lilibet’s birthday on June 4. This launch marks As Ever’s expansion into a wider range of fragrances and apothecary offerings, complementing its existing candle collection.
The 506 candle, linked to Meghan’s six-year-old son’s distinctive red hair, boasts a blend of ginger, neroli, and cashmere scents, promising a cozy and familiar aroma. On the other hand, the candle dedicated to her four-year-old daughter Lilibet is crafted with amber, water lily, and santal, delivering a light and floral fragrance that adds brightness and freshness to any living space. Each candle will be priced at £47.
In a pre-launch interview with Town & Country magazine, Meghan discussed the evolution of As Ever from a jam-making venture to a comprehensive homeware brand. She emphasized the brand’s mission to enhance life experiences, whether as a host, guest, friend, or mother, by adding a touch of elegance and charm to everyday moments.
The products’ descriptions highlight Meghan’s affection for her children, as she references their complete royal titles “Prince Archie of Sussex” and “Princess Lilibet of Sussex.” In 2024, it was revealed that Prince Harry and Meghan opted for the Sussex title as a surname for their children, Archie Sussex and Lilibet Sussex, symbolizing unity within their family.
While Meghan’s supporters celebrated the Mother’s Day collection online, critics raised concerns about her use of her children’s royal titles, given the couple’s decision to step back from royal duties six years ago. Some questioned Meghan’s public promotion of her children’s names and titles, despite her previous efforts to shield them from public attention, including concealing their faces in social media posts.
Meghan’s earlier candle release, part of last year’s Christmas collection, paid homage to her wedding day with Prince Harry in 2018. Named 519 in reference to their May 19th wedding date, the candle featured fragrances of Moroccan mint and white tea notes.
