Donald Trump shared Melania’s alarming response following a shooting incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

The suspected individual, Cole Tomas Allen, 31, hailing from Torrance, California, was armed with guns and knives when he entered the Washington Hilton on Saturday night. Despite the chaos, the president remained unharmed as security swiftly removed him from the scene. Allen, a guest at the hotel, was apprehended and was set to appear in court on Monday. Authorities believe he acted alone but have not disclosed a motive or specific target.

Trump recounted that Melania was the first to recognize the danger, describing the noise as concerning. He initially mistook it for a tray dropping but later realized it was a gunshot. Reflecting on the incident, Trump expressed shock at the occurrence, emphasizing the need for swift responses during emergencies.

Footage shared by Trump on Truth Social captured the suspect evading security barriers as Secret Service agents pursued him. Although one officer sustained a non-life-threatening injury, the gunman was subdued without harm and taken to a medical facility for evaluation.

Allen has been arrested and is facing firearm-related charges, including assaulting an officer with a deadly weapon. The shooting transpired near the event venue, disrupting the annual dinner intended to celebrate journalism and the First Amendment, which drew heightened attention as Trump made his first appearance as president.
