A prominent Member of Parliament has criticized the actions of Donald Trump, labeling them as “presidential trolling” following a controversial statement denouncing Britain’s Chagos deal as an “act of GREAT STUPIDITY.”

Emily Thornberry, who heads the Commons’ foreign affairs committee, emphasized the need for the UK to stay composed and clearly define acceptable behavior amidst the recent threats made by the US President.

The backlash from Mr. Trump earlier today, linking Britain’s transfer of the Chagos Islands to the desire to acquire Greenland, raised concerns. He condemned the decision as a display of weakness, attracting attention from China and Russia.

Despite Mr. Trump’s remarks, Cabinet minister Darren Jones rejected claims of British humiliation and asserted that the UK will not be intimidated by the evolving global landscape. Opposition parties capitalized on Trump’s comments, with Tory leader Kemi Badenoch criticizing the Chagos Islands deal as self-destructive. Nigel Farage of Reform UK supported Trump’s stance against surrendering the islands.
