A young person discovered deceased at a Wetherspoon establishment in Plymouth has been identified as an ongoing inquiry revealed that the exact cause of death remains undetermined.
Kelsey O’Connor, aged 19, was found unconscious at The Mannamead in Mutley on March 31. Emergency responders were alerted to the Wetherspoon venue at approximately 7:30 a.m., leading to the establishment of a cordon in an adjacent alleyway.
During today’s inquest into Kelsey’s passing, it was disclosed that law enforcement had received reports of an unresponsive female at the pub. The individual was later identified as Kelsey. Despite medical intervention, she was tragically pronounced deceased.
In opening the inquiry into Kelsey’s demise, Area Coroner Deborah Archer stated that Devon and Cornwall Police had confirmed the absence of any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident, as reported by Plymouth Live.
The specific medical cause leading to Kelsey’s death remains unknown, according to the hearing.
A representative from Wetherspoons commented at the time: “On March 31, 2026, a significant incident occurred behind the Mannamead before the pub’s operational hours. Our management team responded promptly and is cooperating with the authorities in their ongoing inquiry.
“The pub will remain closed today as this matter is being handled. We thank our patrons and the local community for their understanding.”
