This streak, which dates back to the previous season, surpasses the 14 consecutive losses by the Shreveport Pirates in 1994. According to CFL historian Steve Daniel, the Redblacks now hold the modern-day record for the longest losing streak in the league.

Disheartened by this distinction, passionate Redblacks fan Jimmy Fata expressed disappointment over the team’s performance. Fata, who witnessed the record-setting loss in Winnipeg, emphasized the lack of clarity on the root cause of the team’s struggles. Despite the challenging times, Fata emphasized the importance of unwavering fan support.

The Redblacks’ losing streak not only marks a modern-day record but also ranks as the third-longest in CFL history since records began in 1907. Another loss in the upcoming game against the Montreal Alouettes would tie the Redblacks with the Hamilton Wildcats, who suffered 16 consecutive defeats in 1948-1949. However, the record for the longest losing streak in CFL history belongs to the Ottawa Rough Riders and Ottawa Senators, who collectively lost 25 straight games between 1928 and 1932.

Reflecting on the team’s current challenges, Daniel highlighted the need for a continued roster rebuild, particularly on the defensive front. Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie has made significant changes to the lineup in an effort to improve performance, with recent adjustments showing signs of progress.
