An individual reportedly bit a police officer following a disturbance on an aircraft when she refused to pay for excess baggage. The passenger disregarded airline personnel who prevented her from boarding a JetSmart flight after her carry-on exceeded the weight limit.
Rather than resolving the issue at the gate, she managed to evade checks and board flight JA 3104 just before its scheduled departure from Buenos Aires to Cordoba. Airport authorities were summoned to remove her from the plane, leading to a struggle inside the cabin. During the altercation, the woman allegedly bit a female assistant officer on the right arm in front of other passengers.
Videos recorded by travelers depicted the tense situation as officers struggled to control the woman within the cabin, with some onlookers applauding her removal from the aircraft. The incident unfolded at Jorge Newbery Airpark in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on a Tuesday. Following her apprehension, the woman received treatment for minor injuries at the airport’s medical facility.
The flight encountered a brief delay before eventually taking off. JetSmart had been rigorously enforcing hand-luggage checks at the gate, including requesting passengers to remove jackets to prevent concealed items. The airline has not issued a public statement regarding the incident.
Argentina’s National Criminal and Correctional Federal Court No. 3 has ordered the woman’s detention and collected statements from the injured officer, a shift supervisor, and JetSmart crew members who witnessed the event. Formal charges have not been announced yet, and the case remains under judicial review.
