A man who works as a plumber was taken into custody in the presence of his son after the body of his former partner was discovered concealed under her bed in Turin, Italy. The grim finding was made by a friend of the deceased, Daniela Florea, who had not been in contact for approximately ten days. The individual entered her apartment and alerted the authorities on July 20 upon encountering a strong odor, leading to the recovery of Daniela’s remains from a storage area beneath her bed.
Daniela’s body, wrapped in a white bedsheet, was in an advanced stage of decay. Her former partner, Daniel Trandafir, was located with their six-year-old son at their residence in Turin following the discovery. The child has been placed under the care of a community facility.
Trandafir, aged 45, denied any responsibility for Daniela’s death but displayed inconsistencies in his statements regarding their last encounter. He has been arrested on suspicion of femicide, concealing a corpse, and aggravated domestic abuse.
Post-mortem examination revealed severe head injuries and signs of mechanical asphyxiation consistent with death by violent compression of the mouth and neck. Investigators believe Trandafir was the last person to see Daniela alive and allegedly killed her before hiding her body beneath the bed due to his refusal to accept the end of their relationship.
Daniela, a Romanian national, had recently moved into the apartment with her son after separating from Trandafir, also of Romanian descent. It was discovered that Trandafir still had access to her apartment through a set of keys. The investigation into the case remains ongoing.
