Iconic pop duo The Cheeky Girls from the noughties era are now reportedly working at car dealerships, having temporarily set aside their signature hotpants. Consisting of identical twins Gabriela and Monica Irimia, the Romanian sisters rose to fame in the early 2000s with a series of hit songs including the popular Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum).

Initially gaining recognition on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002, The Cheeky Girls, now 43, have achieved significant record sales and widespread fame, a fact that Monica mentions they take particular pride in.

While currently focusing on their roles in car sales, described as a significant departure from their music career, the twins are serving as salespeople at Audi dealerships, as per a report by Closer magazine. Embracing this dual job scenario, the sisters expressed their enthusiasm for having two distinct identities and enjoying the diversity it brings.

Their transition into the automotive industry was unveiled in a 2021 report, revealing that Gabriela had embarked on a sales role at a Hyundai dealership in York. Meanwhile, Monica also ventured into car sales, securing a position at a separate Hyundai dealership in Lincolnshire. Monica emphasized the importance of having a stable business for the future, highlighting the enduring profitability of the car industry.

Acknowledging the necessity of a secure source of income, especially in uncertain times like the pandemic, Monica emphasized the resilience required in maintaining multiple jobs simultaneously. Gabriela shared her satisfaction with her new position and hinted at the possibility of launching their own dealership in the future, fueled by positive customer feedback they have received.

Their mother, Margit, expressed support for their career shift to car sales, recognizing the need for a sustainable business beyond their entertainment career. Margit emphasized the evolving priorities of women, emphasizing the trend of frequent car upgrades among modern consumers.

Despite their initial reputation as a novelty act, The Cheeky Girls have achieved notable success in the music industry. Their debut track, Cheeky Song (Touch My Bum), reached number 2 on the UK charts, selling over 1.2 million copies worldwide. Their repertoire includes other hits such as Take Your Shoes Off, (Hooray, Hooray) It’s a Cheeky Holiday!, and Have a Cheeky Christmas.
