Prison authorities are taking extensive measures to ensure that the cruel duo responsible for the abuse of young Preston Davey are separated throughout their prison terms, according to informed sources within the correctional system.
John McGowan-Fazakerley, aged 32, is anticipated to be housed at HMP Manchester, commonly known as Strangeways, a facility that has housed some of the UK’s most notorious criminals. He was sentenced to 25 years after being convicted of negligence leading to a child’s death, child mistreatment, and sexual misconduct. Meanwhile, his accomplice Jamie Varley, aged 37, who falsely claimed Preston had drowned accidentally, received a life sentence for murder, child abuse, sexual offenses, and possession of indecent images.
Varley reportedly experienced a distressing first night at HMP Wakefield, referred to as ‘Monster Mansion,’ where he was overwhelmed by fear and intimidation from fellow inmates. The atmosphere was tense as inmates made it clear that Varley would face consequences for the heinous acts committed against Preston.
Sources indicate that McGowan-Fazakerley is being relocated to another high-security prison in the country with concerns of potential threats against him. Both offenders are to remain separated during their incarceration, with stringent security measures in place to ensure their safety.
The prison environment at HMP Strangeways, accommodating up to 744 male inmates, is notorious for its dangerous reputation. Recent inspections have highlighted alarming issues such as drug abuse, rising violence, and high rates of self-harm and deaths within the facility.
Prison officials are facing challenges in maintaining order and control over the inmates, particularly those classified as high-risk offenders. The harsh conditions within the prison system suggest a bleak outlook for McGowan-Fazakerley and Varley as they serve their sentences in isolation and under intense supervision.
The grim reality of their situation is evident, with the harsh prison environment presenting significant challenges and dangers for the two convicted individuals.
