“Protesters Storm US Consulate in Karachi, Six Dead”

Published on

Six individuals were reportedly killed and three personnel from the US Embassy were wounded in Karachi, Pakistan. Gunshots were heard near the US Consulate General in Karachi as hundreds of individuals breached the building in the southern port city. A group of people stormed the US consulate in Karachi, setting fires as they demanded retribution for events in Iran.

This incident occurred amid large gatherings in Iran mourning the passing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In contrast, celebrations erupted worldwide over the demise of the Iranian Supreme Leader. Demonstrators were seen attacking the embassy in Karachi, using makeshift weapons to break the thick glass windows, while also engaging in clashes with the police by hurling stones.

Law enforcement and paramilitary forces resorted to batons and tear gas to disband the crowd, leading to one protester’s death and several injuries. Reports indicate that six individuals lost their lives during the clashes, with eight others sustaining wounds. The protesters were predominantly Shiite Muslims, the same religious denomination as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with an estimated global following of 200-260 million adherents.

Additionally, images from the Associated Press depicted Shiite Muslims in Lahore rallying against the United States. The assault on the consulate occurred shortly after the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in an attack attributed to Israel and the United States. As Iranian missiles continued to be launched in retaliation for Israeli strikes, President Donald Trump warned Tehran against further escalations.

Following the joint Israeli-American airstrike that led to Khamenei’s demise, Iran vowed to avenge the incident, with the Revolutionary Guard threatening a significant offensive targeting Israeli and American installations. Iranian officials, including parliamentary speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, emphasized the need for retribution, asserting that crossing their “red line” would incur consequences.
