Dame Prue Leith has advised Nigella Lawson, her successor on the Great British Bake Off, to avoid a specific phrase that could cause controversy. Leith, who left the Channel 4 show earlier this year after being part of it since 2017, has expressed approval of Lawson taking over.

In an interview with BBC Radio Oxford, Prue complimented Nigella, stating that she will bring a fresh perspective and be excellent for the show. Despite mentioning that Nigella probably doesn’t need advice, there is one cautionary piece she shared.

The South African-born chef used to playfully comment that exceptionally tasty treats were “worth the calories,” but she now warns Nigella against saying the same thing, as it was perceived as fat shaming.

Prue believes that the show is in good hands with the “sassy” food writer. She praised Nigella, highlighting her wit and knowledge of the culinary world.

Nigella will team up with veteran judge Paul Hollywood in the upcoming 17th season of the show. Upon her appointment, Nigella expressed both excitement and nervousness about following in the footsteps of former hosts Prue Leith and Mary Berry.

Acknowledging the significance of The Great British Bake Off, Nigella expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of the show and work alongside the new batch of bakers.

During filming, Alison Hammond, co-presenter with Noel Fielding, mentioned the remarkable chemistry brewing between Paul and Nigella, describing it as unbelievable. She also commented on a social media photo showing the pair together, highlighting their compatibility despite occasional disagreements.
