The autopsy results have revealed the cause of death of a 14-year-old girl, Celeste Rivas Hernandez, whose body was discovered in the vehicle of rapper D4vd, also known as David Anthony Burke. Rivas Hernandez’s death has been classified as a homicide, leading to the rapper being charged with first-degree murder. Despite his denial of involvement, he is facing serious charges including murder, mutilation of a body, and other offenses.
The examination indicated that Rivas Hernandez succumbed to multiple injuries inflicted by an unknown object, resulting in wounds to her chest and abdomen consistent with a sharp instrument. While initial tests showed traces of substances like MDMA and methamphetamine, subsequent screenings were inconclusive for methamphetamine and negated the presence of MDMA. Alcohol was detected in her system but was not a contributing factor to her death.
The report further detailed postmortem changes to the body, including partial skeletalization of the head with a missing eye. When authorities located Rivas Hernandez’s body, it had been dismembered, over a year after she was reported missing. The state of decomposition complicated the autopsy process, leading to a delayed determination of the cause of death.
Burke has been charged with severe offenses, including murder of a witness, financial gain-related murder, lewd acts with a minor, and mutilation of a body. He is alleged to have sexually abused Celeste when she was 12 and 13 years old. Despite pleading not guilty, he faces potential prosecution and even the death penalty if convicted. The case continues to unfold as Burke is due back in court for further legal proceedings.
