A young boy from Calgary who was rescued from a river in British Columbia is currently recovering in the hospital, with his family expressing concern over the severe damage to his lungs. The incident occurred on August 3, when nine-year-old Paul-Angelo Warren was swimming and diving in the Shuswap River near Enderby and failed to resurface. His mother, Maria Warren, recounted how nearby beachgoers quickly intervened, pulling him out of the water shortly after he disappeared.

According to an official statement from the RCMP, the boy was trapped against fallen debris by the river’s strong current before being brought to shore and administered CPR. Authorities estimate that he may have been submerged for up to 10 minutes. Presently, the child is receiving care at Vancouver Children’s Hospital, with his family remaining at his side.

Maria Warren emphasized the importance of her constant presence beside her son, stating, “I always, always stay with him because I want to make sure that when he opens his eyes, he will see me right away and hear my voice.”
