Certain areas in England are expected to experience thunderstorms with frequent lightning strikes and heavy rainfall.
The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms, effective until 9pm this evening.
According to the Met Office forecast, the thunderstorms moving eastward will bring abundant lightning, strong winds, heavy rain, and in some areas, hail.

While the primary concerns are lightning strikes causing power outages, challenging driving conditions due to heavy rain, and potential damage to vulnerable structures from strong winds or hail.
Additionally, an amber warning for extreme heat is also in effect. The thunderstorm warning covers regions in the East of England, London, South East England, and South West England.
The Met Office has advised that buildings and structures could sustain damage from lightning strikes or hail. Driving conditions may be affected by spray, standing water, or hail, potentially causing longer travel times by car or bus.
Train services could experience delays, and there may be short-term power cuts. Individuals are urged to assess the flood risk to their homes and businesses and take necessary precautions.
The Met Office advises seeking shelter in a safe enclosed location, such as a car, upon hearing thunder while outside. It is recommended to avoid standing near trees or other structures that may attract lightning strikes.
In case of being on elevated ground, moving to lower ground is advised. People are reminded to stay alert as weather warnings can change rapidly.
