Renowned musician and former Sex Pistols drummer, Paul Cook, graced the opening night of the event “David Bowie: You’re Not Alone” at Lightroom in London. During his appearance on the red carpet, Cook shared his insights on the evolving music industry over the years, expressing a growing disillusionment with it.

As one of the founding members of the iconic punk band Sex Pistols, alongside Johnny Rotten, Steve Jones, and Glen Matlock, Cook reflected on Bowie’s profound influence on his career. He emphasized Bowie’s lasting impact, particularly praising the artist’s post-Ziggy Stardust era, citing albums like Diamond Dogs and Young Americans as pivotal in shaping his musical journey.

Describing Bowie’s transition to a new musical direction with albums like Low, Heroes, and The Lodger while in Berlin, Cook highlighted the artist’s innovative approach that set him apart in the industry. Cook and his wife, Judi, were also photographed with Boy George at the event, showcasing their longstanding connection to the music scene.

Boy George, in turn, acknowledged Bowie’s influence on his own work, emphasizing Bowie’s ability to challenge norms and inspire creativity. Reflecting on Bowie’s fluid sexuality and impact on LGBTQ+ representation in music, Boy George credited the late artist as a source of inspiration and ally for the community.

The event also saw the attendance of notable personalities such as Noel Gallagher of Oasis, Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters, Damian Lewis from Homeland, and Indira Varma from The Other Bennett Sister. “David Bowie: You’re Not Alone” exhibition will be open for visitors at Lightroom from April 22 to June 28.
