Kyren Wilson faced a burglary at his residence while participating in the Championship League Snooker event on Monday morning. Despite securing a 3-0 win over Haydon Pinhey in the tournament, Wilson was unaware that his home was being targeted for theft during his match at the Mattioli Arena.
Upon discovering the break-in, Wilson promptly exited the competition. The ex-snooker world champion disclosed that valuable items like luxury watches, jewelry, and a sum of money designated for a charitable cause were taken.
In a statement shared on his Instagram account, Wilson expressed his distress over the incident and detailed the stolen possessions, including watches from Cartier and Audemars Piguet, a ladies’ Rolex Datejust with a pink dial, and a blue sapphire necklace meant for his wife on their 10th wedding anniversary. Additionally, £2,000 intended for the BeMoreFab Children’s Cancer Charity was stolen, intensifying the impact on his family.
Wilson urged anyone with information to come forward and assist the ongoing police investigation, emphasizing the sentimental value of the stolen items. He requested support from the public in spreading awareness to aid in the recovery of the stolen belongings.
Following his withdrawal from the tournament, Pinhey, Dylan Emery, and Michal Szubarczyk received walkovers. Wilson’s next competitive appearance will be at the Shanghai Masters, scheduled to commence on July 27.
In a separate event, it was revealed that Wilson, a former world No2, will participate in a snooker exhibition in October to raise funds for Florence Bark’s BeMoreFab charity. The exhibition, organized by TWSportsManagement’s Taylor Wilson, Kyren’s brother, will feature players like Stuart Bingham, Joe O’Connor, and Louis Heathcote.
