Elon Musk, the billionaire owner of SpaceX, has commented on the recent space mishap involving Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin New Glenn rocket. The rocket reportedly exploded during a static fire test at Launch Complex 36 of the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida.
In a brief message on his social media platform X, Musk remarked, “Most unfortunate. Rockets are hard.” Following the explosion, Blue Origin released a statement confirming the incident and assuring that all personnel were safe.
The explosion, which occurred around 9 pm local time on May 28, was captured in online footage showing a detonation at the rocket’s base, followed by a second blast near the spacecraft’s nose, engulfing the entire vehicle in a bright yellow fireball.
Jeff Bezos also took to X to provide an update, stating that all personnel were safe and efforts were underway to determine the cause of the explosion. Meanwhile, NASA has not issued an official statement yet. Mike Haridopolos, Chair of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology subcommittee, expressed gratitude for the safety of personnel and praised the swift response of first responders and launch crews.
