“Stand up to Racism Condemns Hate Exploitation After Henry Nowak’s Tragic Death”

Published on

Stand up to Racism has strongly criticized individuals who are promoting hateful ideologies in the aftermath of Henry Nowak’s tragic death. The Anti-racist organization expressed sympathy for the family of 18-year-old Henry and condemned the alleged mishandling by Hampshire police officers who apprehended him. Vickrum Digwa, 23, was sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years for fatally stabbing Henry on December 3, 2025.

Various far-right figures in the UK and internationally have capitalized on the outrage surrounding Henry’s murder. Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, intervened in the discussion by stating that the rights of white individuals are undervalued compared to ethnic minorities in a “two-tier Britain.”

A demonstration against the police turned violent near the location of Henry’s death in Southampton, prompting Stand up to Racism to release a statement. The organization conveyed its condolences to Henry Nowak’s family and expressed dismay over the dissemination of hate by known fascists and far-right activists exploiting the tragic incident.

The message highlighted concerns about these extremist groups using Henry’s murder to further their divisive agendas and spread racism and hate. The statement urged unity against the far right’s attempts to sow discord in communities.

Over 1,000 protesters gathered to denounce the police officers involved in Henry’s arrest at Southampton Central Police station. The demonstration began peacefully but escalated as some protesters resorted to throwing objects at the police, leading to clashes and officers retreating under pressure.

Despite the initial aim of honoring Henry’s memory, the demonstration turned chaotic as violence erupted, overshadowing the peaceful intentions of many participants. Officers faced aggression from the crowd, resulting in clashes and confrontations near the site of Henry’s tragic death.
