A woman from Plymouth expresses fear about her declining health while stranded in Dubai with stage three cancer. Linzi Stone is set to undergo chemotherapy for a rare type of lung cancer, but her return flights have been canceled due to ongoing conflicts in the Gulf region following the US-Israeli tensions with Iran.

Linzi, aged 47 and a non-smoker, recently received a diagnosis of EGFR-positive lung cancer. She has not received any treatment yet and is uncertain if she will make it back in time for her scheduled chemotherapy session. Accompanied by her husband, Paul, 54, and their 11-year-old daughter, Summer, they are residing in a hotel near Jebel Ali Port on The Palm, which was impacted by debris from a intercepted missile.

“I was diagnosed at the beginning of February,” Linzi mentioned. “I haven’t experienced any symptoms. I haven’t commenced any treatment. My doctor permitted us to travel for a brief vacation before starting chemo.”

“My chemotherapy was scheduled for Friday. However, we are now stuck in Dubai without any clarity on our return or the situation. The stress has caused me chest pains,” she added.

“I am mostly anxious about the cancer worsening without treatment. I feel my health deteriorating. It is extremely stressful for me, and if my condition worsens, what will we do?” Linzi expressed.

“I just want to return home and begin my chemotherapy. My life depends on it,” she emphasized.

Describing a recent drone interception near their hotel, Linzi shared, “It was frightening. Saturday night was turbulent, but things have been calm since then. Friends in a different area received alerts to take cover.”

A Virgin Airways flight was reserved for Wednesday, though uncertainty loomed over its departure. Linzi expressed, “Virgin Airways indicates our flight is still on schedule. But I am unsure if it will proceed.”

Paul, her husband, conveyed his frustration, saying, “It’s distressing. My wife is eager to return for her chemotherapy, fearing that any delay will worsen her condition. It’s a challenging situation.”

With constant fighter jets and drones overhead, the lack of sleep and the anxiety among family members, especially their young daughter, is palpable. Paul stressed the need to support his wife and daughter during this difficult time.

In light of the circumstances and the impact it has on Linzi’s health, Paul highlighted the added stress and fear caused by the ongoing conflict and the urgency to return home for medical treatment.
