“Summer Holiday Prices See Modest £23 Increase Amid Middle East Conflict”

Published on

Summer holiday prices have only increased by an average of £23 per person since the onset of the Middle East conflict, according to recent research findings. Despite initial concerns following the outbreak and a surge in jet fuel costs, data from Travelsupermarket indicates that overall prices for various destinations have largely remained stable pre-crisis.

The average cost per person for a seven-night summer getaway has seen a modest uptick of £23 since the conflict began. Nevertheless, there have been notable fluctuations, with certain locations experiencing price hikes. For instance, trips to Ibiza have risen from £532 to £540, while Majorca has seen an increase from £515.62 to £570.26 per person, totaling a rise of £54.64 each or £218 for a family of four at full fare.

Conversely, a significant number of popular destinations have witnessed price drops, attributed to decreased interest in the region or promotional deals by travel companies to entice more cautious travelers. For example, the Neapolitan Riviera in Italy has seen prices decrease by £232 per person to £905, followed by the Dominican Republic with a £130 reduction to £1,364, and Turkey’s Dalaman area down by £110 to £492 per person, offering excellent value for summer vacations.

Among well-liked destinations, Majorca now costs £581 per person, a reduction of £86, while Corfu is down to £568, and Turkey’s Antalya Area has decreased to £520. Even the Costa Brava in Spain has seen prices drop by an average of £63 to £504.

Chris Webber, the head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, commented that despite ongoing uncertainties, the average increase in summer holiday prices stands at just £23 across all destinations. He emphasized the current favorable pricing scenario, pointing out the falling prices in various places like Majorca, Corfu, and Turkey, suggesting that now might be an opportune moment for booking before any potential price hikes.

Holiday companies are reportedly eager to stimulate bookings, resulting in highly competitive pricing strategies at present.
